They will further develop a phone application for teaching mathematics, which was developed in a previous project, to include a parental control application. In addition, they will support the use of the innovative Smart e-Maths methodology in differentiated teaching processes. This is the aim of two recent Erasmus+ projects, 7Smart Steps and Learn Then Play, in which the Harghita County Council and the Association for Harghita County, established and run by the Council, are involved. The details of the projects were presented at a press conference by Csaba Borboly, President of the County Council, and Endre Borsos, representative of the Hungarian InterRegio Forum Association, the main applicant, on 25 June at the County Hall in Miercurea Ciuc.
“Modern, popular teaching methods with the use of parental control app”
– Thanks to technological advances, but also in the context of the epidemic, digital education has clearly come to the fore, which implies the necessary improvements. Recognising the importance of this, last year we helped prepare students for the Romanian language and literature aptitude test and the school-leaving examination by developing an online platform using innovative methods. In a previous Erasmus+ project, we developed the Smart e-Maths application for teaching mathematics, which we are now developing further through our current projects. These projects are part of the Digital Action Plan of Harghita County, which is part of the national strategy to help Harghita County schools catch up by providing equipment and training teachers,” said Csaba Borboly.
Harghita County is a pioneer in digital education in the country, Endre Borsos said, adding that the county council is supporting several innovative initiatives. The Erasmus+ projects support differentiated education, especially in mathematics, but a series of tasks could be developed for any subject. The content development is done jointly by the project partners, which is what the 7Smart Steps project is all about. The Learn then play project aims to improve the conditions for cooperation between parents and schools by using innovative tools. The previous application will be extended with a parent control application that links free internet time given to pupils as a motivational reward to the completion of tasks, said Endre Borsos.
Judit Vépy, content developer, presented the previous application, the content of which will also be further developed. The current material is aimed at 5th and 6th graders, and curricula for 8th graders will be developed in the future. She said that the previous content had been tested in class and the app was very popular with students and teachers alike thanks to its ease of use and good design, and had received a lot of positive feedback. It can be downloaded from online stores and is available on tanlet.hu.
