In the ‘Artificial Intelligence in Education – Modular Teacher Training’ programme, participating teachers explore each topic through a standardised, four-phase learning process. The framework follows the same pedagogical logic across all learning units of the course and guides participants through four interlinked stages.
The aim of this methodological approach is to ensure that teachers do not acquire new knowledge as isolated content, but rather interpret, try out and adapt it by linking it to their own professional practice. The learning process is therefore based on active processing, practical application and the direct pedagogical use of the knowledge acquired.
The four stages of the methodological framework:
1. Embedding in a pedagogical context
In the first stage of the learning process, participants draw on their own professional experience and a specific pedagogical situation. This provides the context to which new knowledge, methodological perspectives and practical applications relating to the topic in question can be linked.
2. Multimedia content processing
In the second stage, video and other visual learning resources support the structured exploration of the topic in question, as well as the understanding of key concepts, pedagogical connections, potential applications and limitations.
3. Application-focused practical work
In the third stage, the focus is on the practical application of the knowledge acquired. Participants explore the topic through specific tasks: they may create digital learning materials or other educational resources, or develop decisions and solutions relevant to their own teaching contexts.
4. Reflection and pedagogical transfer
The fourth phase supports the conscious conclusion of the learning process and the transfer of the knowledge acquired into participants’ own teaching practice. Participants examine how the knowledge, methods and outputs they have developed can be applied in their own teaching environments.
The way in which the four phases build upon one another ensures a coherent pedagogical logic throughout the course’s methodological structure.
