As the next stage of the Erasmus+ ‘AI Empowered Educators’ project, the Romanian Peer Learning Action (PLA) took place in Csíkszereda on 4 December 2025.
The event was organised by the Casa Corpului Didactic ‘Apáczai Csere János’ Teachers’ Centre in collaboration with the Regionet Foundation.
The workshop was attended by teachers, trainers, education policymakers, and AI and IT specialists, enabling participants to examine the educational application of artificial intelligence from multiple perspectives.
The aim of the PLA was to lay the joint foundations for a teacher training programme that supports the informed and pedagogically sound application of artificial intelligence in public education.
The workshop was built around two main focuses:
- on the one hand, participants explored the educational opportunities, challenges and risks of AI (with particular regard to the organisation of learning, assessment and the role of the teacher);
- on the other hand, they identified the key competences and training directions that could form the basis of effective AI training for teachers.
A key lesson identified was that AI does not in itself constitute innovation: it becomes a genuine tool for development only when linked to conscious pedagogical objectives. The participants agreed that, as a tool supporting teachers’ work, AI can contribute to differentiation, pupil support and enhancing the effectiveness of teaching.
The PLA in Romania has further strengthened the project’s professional foundations and is contributing to the development of a teacher training programme based on international experience.
